The HCL fall protection guide

What type of fall protection do you need? Completing the following HCL interactive guide will highlight the type of system most appropriate to your level of risk.

Ideally, no one should be asked to work at height. However, we recognise that this is rarely possible in practical terms and so, in line with the Work at Height Regulations 2005, HCL recommends an hierarchical approach to fall protection:

1. Collective fall protection

Parapets and guardrails along designated walkways that prevent people reaching a fall hazard such as a roof edge or a roof light.

2. Fall restraint

Solutions such as the ManSafe cable-based system with a layout that enables a person to attach to the system and access work areas, but prevents them reaching a fall hazard.

3. Fall arrest

Solutions such as the ManSafe Constant Force cable-based system with a layout that enables a person to attach to the system and access work areas, but will also minimise the distance and consequences of a fall if one should occur.

Define your need with the HCL interactive guide

The guide will lead you through a series of steps to identify the intensity of access, the competency of the system users and the fall clearance required of your fall protection system. As you move through the program it will automatically calculate the level of risk you are creating with your choices. Ultimately, the guide will suggest the most appropriate solution for your need.
