Fall Protection Guide

1. Intensity of Access

The intensity of access in turn breaks down into three key considerations:

  1. Frequency of access (Occasional—several times per year, Regular—several times per month, Frequent—several times per week,)
  2. Duration of the activity (Short—up to half a day, Medium—half a day to two days, Long—two days to a month, Unlimited—any length of time;)
  3. Number of people accessing the area simultaneously (Small team—1 to 6 persons; Unrestricted free access—6+ people;)

Frequency

The starting point is to decide the frequency of access. Obviously the more time spent in the vicinity of the hazard, the higher the risk to the worker, which in turn will affect the type of system that will be required to protect the worker
